About Armstrong

Armstrong was founded in 1952 by Richard C. Armstrong, Sr. Starting out as a retail lumber yard, Armstrong Lumber Co. Inc. soon began to grow and diversify into other areas. The retail lumber yard eventually gave way to a new revolutionary concept in home construction - pre-manufactured building components. Wall panels and roof trusses built in a controlled plant situation, along with a custom cabinet shop and a door and millwork shop, became the operation which is known today as the ArmSystem™.

Today, with our expanded facility and full use of our 10-acre site, Armstrong has become a leader in the building component industry, selling products both at home and abroad. The company is run by second-generation family members who hold fast to their father's founding slogan of "There's no substitute for quality."

In addition to contributing financially to numerous local charities and sponsoring events for their benefit, Armstrong Homes encourages its employees and certified ArmSystem™ builders to volunteer within the community. Armstrong is actively involved in building comfortable homes for those in need through Habitat for Humanity. Armstrong's home-building efforts for the benefit of Habitat for Humanity have been honored by official Proclamation by the Mayor of the City of Tacoma, Washington.

Armstrong's "Healthy Housing" construction methods have been recognized by the State of Washington Office of Trade and Economic Development. The company adheres to strict Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards in the use of cleanup of organic compound materials and avoids the use of toxic materials. To further protect natural resources, Armstrong uses lumber registered under the Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI), and participates in a tree-harvesting program with wide ranging conservation goals including the protection of wildlife, plants, soil and water quality.
